In PC properties (i.e. My Computer -> Properties), what does B stand for in MB or GB. Does it define bit or byte?

Abbreviation. The symbol for "byte" is "B". Sometimes a lowercase "b" is used, but this use is incorrect because "b" is actually the IEEE symbol for "bit". The IEC symbol for bit is bit. For example, "MB" means "megabyte" and "Mbit" means "megabit".
It can be easy to confuse the two because both bits/s and bytes/s represent data transmission speeds, but remember that, in the abbreviations for each, the uppercase "B" stands for bytes while the lowercase "b" stands for bits.
GB is an abbreviation for gigabytes, this is a measure of data generally used to specific storage space on a platform or as a level of traffic for bandwidth, and is equal to roughly one billion bytes, or 1,073,741,824 bytes to be exact.
Equivalent. 1 kilobyte (KB) 1,024 bytes. 1 megabyte (MB) 1,048,576 bytes.
Byte. bit is lowercase. MB = Megabyte, Mb is megabit.
