In xcode project devices is set to iphone but in itunes connect when i try to upload my app to the app store in itunes connect, the screenshots require me to post screenshots for ipad and ipad pro,

On the iOS App Store, you must provide a set of screenshots for all device types. For iPhone, at the minimum, you need one set of screenshots for the 5.5-inch display, and for iPad, you need at least one set for the 12.9-inch display.
Tap "Albums", then swipe up to get to the bottom of "Albums" and look at the Media Types section. The Screenshots album will only be shown, if you have a screenshot in your Photos Library.
Force reboot your iPhone or iPad. Press and hold the Home and Power buttons together for at least 10 seconds, and your device should proceed to force a reboot. After this, your device should work well, and you can successfully take a screenshot on the iPhone.
In your project setting, in General tab, under Deployment info, set Devices from Universal to iPhone
