In File Explorer, navigate to the folder you want to search. For example, if you just want to search your Downloads folder, open the Downloads folder. If you want to search your entire C: drive, head to C:. Then, type a search into the box at the top right corner of the window and press Enter.
Press the WIN key, or select the search bar from the bottom-left corner of the taskbar, near the Start button. Start typing the name of the file, app, or another item you're looking for, but don't press Enter just yet. The results appear instantly.
Create a Simple Search In the desktop, click or tap the File Explorer button on the taskbar. Open an Explorer window in the location where you want to search. Click or tap in the Search box. A search tab appears.
