When I study about cloud-computing, I usually see these terms: on-premise, off-premise applications. I tried to search them on Google, but no luck. Can anyone please explain these terms to me?

In order to understand off premise vs on premise catering, it is important to understand what each means. On-premise caterers provide food that is prepared for the event in a kitchen at the same location, while off-premise caterers transport the food from an off-site kitchen to the event venue.
The following are off-premises contracts: contracts made in the customer's home or place of work, such as home improvements or doorstep selling (where the customer makes the order straight away) if you organise an excursion to promote and sell your goods or services.
On-premise software requires that an enterprise purchases a license or a copy of the software to use it. Because the software itself is licensed and the entire instance of software resides within an organization's premises, there is generally greater protection than with a cloud computing infrastructure.
Popular examples of on-premise solutions are Microsoft Office or Adobe products. In many cases, however, it can be seen that more and more software providers are increasingly switching to on-demand models and software as a service.
On premises means on location, whereas off premises means remote (in the cloud). For instance if an application runs on an "on-premises" server it means the server is physically in the company. If you have an off-premises solution it's hosted in the cloud or centralized location.
