Running Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, and Internet Explorer 8 on the same machine
Is there a way to have Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 6 side by side without virtualizing?
I used Multiple IEs which works fine with Internet Explorer 7, but since I installed Internet Explorer 8 beta 2, Internet Explorer 6 started behaving oddly (that is, more than usual).
To answer your question: no, it's not possible to have multiple versions of IE (if that is what you meant) installed in a 'normal' way (i.e. not a hack, a sandbox or a VM etc). It's perfectly ok to have multiple browsers of different types installed on the same machine, such as IE8, Firefox 3 and Chrome all at once.
IE6 (in non-quirks mode): You write CSS for the IE6 limitations (hacks upon hacks) and sleep poorly. IE8 (in IE8/non-quirks mode): You write CSS which is [generally] compatible with other modern browsers and have happier dreams :p~ – user166390.
The venerable Internet Explorer 11 browser will fall out of support on June 15, 2022, but just for certain Windows 10 operating system versions that follow the semiannual channel release update cycle.
I also use virtualisation. I've got Virtual PC 2007, which is a free download from here, on my machine and have downloaded the Internet Explorer Virual PC images from Microsoft. You can get the images here.
