Is there a way to add spelling dictionary not on project settings level, but for whole IDE? I find setting this for every project little annoying.
Press Ctrl+Alt+S to open the IDE settings and select Editor | Natural Languages | Spelling. Add words to the Accepted words list.
-> Uncheck the options that you want to disable. Android Studio 1.0. 2: File>>Settings>>Inspections>>Spelling>>Typo but File>>Settings and search "spelling" is better! :) Just to be clear, the options you can disable will be in the right-hand column after you click on "Typo".
To configure project settings, select IntelliJ IDEA | Preferences on macOS or File | Settings on Windows and Linux from the main menu. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Alt+S to show the IDE settings. icon. Other settings are global and apply to all existing projects.
Press Ctrl+Alt+S to open the IDE settings and select Editor | Natural Languages. in the list of languages and select your language.
It's been a few years, and it's there in the IDE settings. Don't know if it's going to be useful, posting it anyway for anyone searching for it now and in the future.
Once application-level dictionary is chosen, the IDE will then start saving words into cachedDictionary.xml
in {IDEA_CONFIG_DIR}/config/options
. Then you can simply add new words globally by pressing AltEnter and selecting Save to Application Level Dictionary
in the context menu.
You can configure dictionaries for the default project. All the new projects will inherit this configuration.
