Apache Mahout is an open source project to create scalable, machine learning algorithms. Mahout operates in addition to Hadoop, which allows you to apply the concept of machine learning via a selection of Mahout algorithms to distributed computing via Hadoop.
What is Mahout? Apache Mahout, a project developed by Apache Software Foundation, is meant for Machine Learning. It enables machines learn without being overtly programmed.
There are many supervised learning algorithms such as neural networks, Support Vector Machines (SVMs), and Naive Bayes classifiers. Mahout implements Naive Bayes classifier.
