I have a device management application, which essentially runs as a service in the background from boot. I'd like to start this application immediately after installation. How do I achieve this?

Starting a service You can start a service from an activity or other application component by passing an Intent to startService() or startForegroundService() . The Android system calls the service's onStartCommand() method and passes it the Intent , which specifies which service to start.
You declare a service in your app's Manifest, by adding a <service> element as a child of your <application> element. There's a list of attributes that you can use to control a service's behavior, but as a minimum you'll need to provide the service's name (android:name) and a description (android:description).
First, the easiest way to do what you're trying to do is to launch an Android Broadcast when the app is killed manually, and define a custom BroadcastReceiver to trigger a service restart after that. Dear Dr Sabri Allani, If your Service is started by your app then actually your service is running on main process.
You can do this by making your own Interface where you declare for example " isServiceRunning() ". You can then bind your Activity to your Service, run the method isServiceRunning(), the Service will check for itself if it is running or not and returns a boolean to your Activity.
You cannot do this -- there is no way to automatically start your service merely because it was installed.
The application must first be invoked by the user through some sort of activity. Or, you are going to need to hook into some relevant broadcast Intent via the manifest, so you can get control when one of those events occur and kick off your service that way. Or, you are going to need to ask the user to reboot so your BOOT_COMPLETED Intent filter can get control.
