I have an app on the market and I want to update it for the new phones. The old iPhones only supported 5 simultaneous touches where as the iPad supported 10. I was wondering if the new phones now support 10 as well. I searched Google for documentation but I couldn't find specific data.
The iPhone supports 5 simultaneous touches, and cancels them all on the 6th touch. Current iPad models (through Air 2) support 11 simultaneous touches, and do nothing on a 12th touch.
It's up to 5 fingers but "It's important to note that the iPhone only keeps track of taps when one finger is used. If it detects multiple touches, it resets the tap count to one." -from Beginning iPhone 3 Development published by Apress.
Apple boasts that "multi-touch" interface is: The most revolutionary user interface since the mouse. It's an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers.
Apple stopped supporting the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with software updates back in 2019 with the launch of iOS 13.
it's limited by 5 in all iPhones to date.
