I have a FB pixel working properly, but still on development and staging environments.
What are the best practices to use this on production, should I always use at least two different pixels? in order to have reliable data.
Each Facebook ad account only has one pixel code initially. You can install this pixel on multiple websites and then you can track those sites separately. But you always use the same code that is associated with your ads account.
The short answer is: yes! Some people think that you need to create a new pixel for every website but that actually can remove some of the power you have with the Facebook pixel. You can have multiple Facebook Pixels but you often don't need them.
Now they have announced that all analytic features will be gone by June 2021, and the pixel will be eliminated by 2022.
Only the Business Manager that owns the pixel can share it with other Business Managers, who can then assign it to ad accounts within it. If you want to view or edit a pixel you don't have access to, you can request access to the associated ad account.
I found some documentation on segment.com that recommends:
We recommend setting up separate source for each environment. That way you can either point events to test conversion pixels in Facebook Conversion Tracking or turn off Facebook Conversion Tracking completely in non-production environments.
