Database schema vs.A database schema is considered the “blueprint” of a database which describes how the data may relate to other tables or other data models. However, the schema does not actually contain data. A sample of data from a database at a single moment in time is known as a database instance.
Database Schema represent overall design of the database. Database state represent current state of data in database.
CREATE DATABASE creates a database with the given name. To use this statement, you need the CREATE privilege for the database. CREATE SCHEMA is a synonym for CREATE DATABASE . An error occurs if the database exists and you did not specify IF NOT EXISTS .
A Schema in SQL is a collection of database objects associated with a database. The username of a database is called a Schema owner (owner of logically grouped structures of data). Schema always belong to a single database whereas a database can have single or multiple schemas.
A database is the main container, it contains the data and log files, and all the schemas within it. You always back up a database, it is a discrete unit on its own.
Schemas are like folders within a database, and are mainly used to group logical objects together, which leads to ease of setting permissions by schema.

You cannot drop a schema when it is in use. You have to first remove all objects from the schema.
