I've downloaded and installed the Genymotion emulator plugin via the plugin wizard in Android Studio. I'm running Android Studio on a Windows machine.
I'm getting a warning saying that I must provide a path to Genymotion folder:
Where is this folder located? I can not seem to find it in my Android Studio installation folder.
The Genymotion plugin for Android Studio allows you to test your application developed with the Android Studio IDE. It uses ADB to connect to any active virtual device and push your application. This section explains how to install, use the plugin and run Android applications.
Launch and Activate Genymotion Select the checkbox Launch Genymotion and then click Finish. The Genymotion app will start on your Windows 11. You need to create a Genymotion account to run the Android apps if you don't have one. Select the create account button, then it will take you automatically to Genymotion form.
According to the StackShare community, Android Studio has a broader approval, being mentioned in 1265 company stacks & 4055 developers stacks; compared to Genymotion, which is listed in 6 company stacks and 6 developer stacks.
Genymotion should start downloading the required files to create the virtual device. Once the virtual device is ready, it should be listed in My installed devices section. Now, to start the virtual device, click on the Menu icon and click on Start. As you can see, Genymotion is starting the virtual device.
For windows, the default path is C:Program FilesGenymobileGenymotion. On a Mac, you will find it here: /Applications/Genymotion.app. You have to enter it inside the Android Studio settings, under Genymotion section.
Why does it happen? you're getting the notice "You must specify a path to Genymotion folder to use this feature" because there's a bug in Genymotion working on Windows that misleads the Genymotion engine while trying to use the Android SDK.
Use Genymotion to Launch Virtual Device. After Android Studio is up again, look for a Genymotion icon inside the menu bar. Click on the plugin icon. Set the path to the Genymotion installation. Now your Genymotion emulator should be ready to use. Complete the process and click the Genymotion icon. Following dialogue box will appear on the screen.
Put the following path inside "Android SDK": C:\Program Files\Genymobile\Genymotion Why does it happen? you're getting the notice "You must specify a path to Genymotion folder to use this feature" because there's a bug in Genymotion working on Windows that misleads the Genymotion engine while trying to use the Android SDK. Can't find Genymotion.app
For windows, the default path is C:\Program Files\Genymobile\Genymotion
On a Mac, you will find it here: /Applications/Genymotion.app
You have to enter it inside the Android Studio settings, under Genymotion section.

Not sure if anyone had the same problem but I received this same warning from Android Studio when clicking on the Genymotion Plugin warning me that
"You must specify a path to genymotion folder to use this feature"
The path was correct according to previous answers for a Mac but the problem was simply that the Genymotion plugin just needed to be updated. I went to Android Studio > Preferences > Plugins > Genymotion and selected update (This is on a mac) and the problem went away after I updated the plugin and restarted Android Studio. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
