This example demonstrates how do I display animated gif images in android. Step 1 − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project. Step 2 − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main. xml.
Android smartphones have a built-in image viewing application called Gallery. When you connect your Android smartphone to your computer and transfer a GIF file to your phone's storage area, you can open the Gallery appliation and view that GIF file.
In your build.gradle(Module:app), add android-gif-drawable
as a dependency by adding the following code:

Natively ImageView does not support animated image. You have two options to show animated gif file

I would suggest you to use Glide library. To use Glide you need to add this to add these dependencies
