FIDO Alliance's Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) is a new and promising approach to replace passwords. The FIDO Alliance comprises of many players but so far only Google website seems to support it. Are there other websites I can use to login with my U2F token?
Consumer-facing sites that support U2F include Twitter, Facebook, and Dropbox, as well as Google and its various properties (including, but not limited to, Gmail). The websites and web services of both Apple and Microsoft are yet to support U2F.
Many sites support U2F security keys, including Twitter, Facebook, Google, Instagram, GitHub, Dropbox, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Microsoft account services, Nintendo, Okta, and Reddit.
Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera (which is based on Google Chrome) are the only browsers that support U2F.
We use cookiesUntil around 2019, PayPal offered two-factor authentication security via SMS only. And while SMS 2FA is better than no 2FA at all, users wanted better protection.
See www.dongleauth.info It contains a list of websites, self-hosted software and USB dongles compatible to U2F (as well as One Time Passwords).
