It is open source / free software, with a permissive license. In addition to the compiler and runtime system for ANSI Common Lisp, it provides an interactive environment including a debugger, a statistical profiler, a code coverage tool, and many other extensions.

Now it forms part of Google's travel industry department. In most cases, the company develops its software using Common Lisp. Another application in the transport sector is the London Tube that uses the software developed by Portuguese Siscog where Common Lisp is the main programming language.

How about a

  • web server?
  • text editor?
  • a type setter?
  • an interactive musical score editing application?
