A few days ago, the attach button in "Attach to process" dialogue became disabled in VS 2010 and VS 2008 likewise. At first I thought that it is just an extension I've installed in VS 2010 but then I noticed it is the same in VS 2008. The both VS's a re running in administrative mode and on Windows 7. I looked around but I can't seem to find a solution to this. If anybody has encountered an similar problem, a little help would do great. Thanks upfront.
EDIT: Attached a picture of the dialogue!
You need to create a new Python related project(or open a Python project) in Visual Studio to debug your project which includes the . py file and python codes. Just open a single . py file is not enough to debug the project in Visual Studio, so you will see the “Start” changed to “Attach…”.
You can use Attach to Process to debug running apps on local or remote computers, debug multiple processes simultaneously, debug apps that weren't created in Visual Studio, or debug any app you didn't start from Visual Studio with the debugger attached.
Open Visual Studio in Administrator Mode, then Debug -> attach to process -> tick the check box "Show processes from all user", select w3wp.exe.
In the Visual Studio toolbar, make sure the configuration is set to Debug. To start debugging, select the profile name in the toolbar, such as <project profile name>, IIS Express, or <IIS profile name> in the toolbar, select Start Debugging from the Debug menu, or press F5.
Where it says
you should press 'Select' and ensure at least managed is ticked. (or choose automatic)
otherwise, the 'Attach' button will be disabled.
