I am a scientist. Apart from the actual science, I am writing code for data processing at various levels including collecting 'raw' data and setting up electronic notebooks with 'metadata', and to perform data processing at various levels from formatting/reformatting and data cleaning, all the way to using advanced statistical methods and visualizing the results.

Currently I mostly use matlab with some legacy code in C, as well as idiosyncratic scripting languages for specific instrumentation, but I am interested in moving my analysis tools to python and java.
