I have been developing software since I was a kid in the eighties (yes, that's my age...). It was no surprise that I choose to study Computing Science in university. I did this at the University of Technology in Eindhoven. I also spent some time at the University of Waterloo in Canada, which was great.
Out of university I started working for Ernst & Young consultants; in particular the bunch that worked on big software engineering projects for large companies. I learned a ton and played all sorts of roles from developer to designer to architect to analyst. After 7 years I continued along that path at smaller consultancy companies (DCE Consultants and Yellowtail).
Then in 2011 I thought it was enough. I had built so many (IMHO) great things for my clients, that I finally decided I wanted to build something for myself this time. I picked a niche (digital signage) and built Bizplay, together with a good friend/colleague of mine. Since we launched in March 2012, that has been our adventure. And I'm loving every minute of it.
And since we're bootstrapping, I keep helping out the occasional customer with his software development challenges.
