I have been programming since I was 11. I started with Basic on the C64 and moved shortly afterwards to Turbo Pascal on the Commodore PC10-2 (8088). From 1997 to 2003 I studied Computer Science at the KIT with a focus on Software Engineering and wrote my thesis on Parallel Processing. Since 2003 I have been working in different roles within IT organizations of Internet companies with a particular interest in scalable, high-available Internet services realized with the programming languages C++, Java and Python.
I am an advocate of Software Engineering as a Discipline. I try to convey this mindset also on Stackoverflow, and to emphasize that both of the following points are equally important, even if Stackoverflow puts a focus on the former:
