In my first job (while still at uni) Lotus 123 was released and I was the only person in the nationwide organisation that I worked for, who was trained in how to use it. I was an accounts clerk putting myself through an accounting degree and suddenly I was writing applications for the CEO to share weekly operational kpis with his state managers. Basically no one knew how to use PCs so I had to design and build interfaces to the spreadsheets using macros that would allow novice users to enter the required data and print the reports. I eventually ended up working as a web application developer in a bank when Lotus Notes was the go to product for intranet web applications and I haven't looked back.
