Started programming at La Tech in 1963. We did the whole course without a working computer. Learned more about setting up flow diagrams than you can imagine. Since then I've created several firsts in automating hydrographic surveying and geophysical navigation. Ran up to 265 people, gave it up and now back to what I enjoy the most: Making things run smoother by watching people do their thing and emulating it in software with QA/QC that has been all but forgotten in this competitive economy.
I have been battling it out with VBA for Excel because that was what I thought I knew something about. I just found out how much my mind had been damaged by FORTRAN, etc. back in the seventies. When I found out that MIT was using Python, I dropped everything else and decided to take the plunge. What I've seen, I like. So used to the beating I was getting with VBA, this is a walk in the park.
Here I come.
