About

Short Version

Claire Streb, an industry veteran with over 40 years experience in software technologies, is delighted with permanent remote employment. In 2005, Claire formed 1 4 U, LLC after moving to the UK with decades of senior management and consulting experience. 1 4 U was a global software consultancy for small, mid, and large companies. Dedicated to 100% customer satisfaction and architectural innovation, Claire personally consulted with clients while managing her staff. In 2008, she lived and worked both in the UK and US. She returned back to the US full-time in 2013 when she closed 1 4 U. Claire was a principal founder and Software Project Manager at Phoenix Telecom prior to the company's acquisition by CSC. At CSC, she was a Senior Technical Manager (Manager of Managers, Director level). Claire holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from RIT and three certifications from Rational University in Requirements Management and Object-oriented Analysis and Design. She enjoys writing, leading, mentoring, architecting, programming, refactoring, and playing software detective (aka researching and defect discovery).

Long Version

Claire began college in the mid-70s and started working in the late '70s with punched cards and paper tape. Her second co-op job involved customization of a BASIC compiler whose source code was bought from a little-known company called Microsoft; her job was to find and fix all of the bugs. (Too bad she hadn't asked Bill for a share or two in the company!)

Claire was asked by her manager to be the Supervisor of Operations, so she attended college part-time; it took her 15 years to obtain her Bachelor's degree. Claire climbed the corporate ladder to become a Senior Technical Manager (Manager of Managers/Director level), working 60-80 hours a week, with a large staff and a large budget. One night she came home and realized her children were growing up without enough of her time with them, so she quit.

In the mid-90s, she returned to hands-on software consulting as an employee, and she obtained certification in Requirements Engineering and OOAD (with UML).

In 2005, she moved to the UK (for personal reasons) and started her own freelance consulting business, hiring subcontractors from all over the globe.

In 2008, she began living both in the UK and US.

In 2013, she returned to the States to be with her family.

She continues to be active in the software and local communities.

She has a vast and varied wealth of skills, knowledge, and know-how. (No brag, just fact.) She relishes learning new technologies, knowledge-sharing, and respect. She trusts in the Holy Spirit to guide her personal and business lives on a daily basis.
