Charles has a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Princeton University, a Master of Arts in American History from Columbia University, and is completing a Ph.D. dissertation on the intellectual response to World War II at Columbia University.After ten years of producing history and new media projects in university and corporate settings, Charles Forcey founded Historicus, Inc. in 2001. His goal was to assemble a team focused exclusively on the challenging problem of advancing historical understanding and teaching with new technologies.

More recently, Charles has joined Advanced Energy Economy, a trade association dedicated to promoting secure, clean, and affordable sources of energy. As senior developer, he manages a continuous deployment process with Codeship and Heroku, a 100+GB Postgres database of regulatory and legislative documents, a REST api, Elasticsearch full text index, and an Agile development process that combines the best of Agile sprints with Kanban pipeline visual feedback tools.
