I do most development testing on my iPad. When I test an iPhone app, it runs in 'compatibility' mode where the little iPhone app runs in a small window or x2 magnification. Now that I've created a universal app it runs as a native iPad app. For testing I'd like to use the simulated iPhone when I don't have an iPhone handy for testing.
How can I build the project so that the iPad will run the app in compatibility mode?
iPhone-only apps cannot be installed on iPads at all, so you don't need to worry about downloading one by accident. They simply don't appear in the App Store on an iPad.
In the Mac App Store, iPhone and iPad apps that work on Mac computers with Apple silicon are labeled with Designed for iPhone or Designed for iPad. Any iPhone or iPad apps you purchase that work on your Mac with Apple silicon are shown when you view your purchased apps in the App Store.
Turns out it was really simple
