I've recently purchased a new hard drive and installed a clean copy of OS X Mavericks. I installed python using homebrew and i need to create a python virtual environment. But when ever i try to run any command using pip, I get this error. I haven't been able to find a solution online for this problem. Any reference would be appreciated. Here is the error I'm getting.

Sometimes when you are installing packages, you might face the error: pip: command not found . This error could be due to the following reasons: Pip is not installed. Pip is installed, but it is not compatible with the current environment.
To use the get-pip script to install PIP on Mac:Open the Terminal app via the Launchpad. In the Terminal, type curl https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py -o get-pip.py and press Enter. Allow curl time to download the script onto your Mac. Once it's done, type python3 get-pip.py and press Enter.
One of the most common problems with running Python tools like pip is the “not on PATH” error. This means that Python cannot find the tool you're trying to run in your current directory. In most cases, you'll need to navigate to the directory in which the tool is installed before you can run the command to launch it.
Ok I found out online that these errors are related to openssl. But i already had openssl installed. A little more research and I tried the following and it solved the issue for me. Here's my solution in case you get the same error.
brew install openssl brew link openssl --force brew uninstall python brew install python --with-brewed-openssl Hope that helps.
