Today I found the status bar in android 4.2.2 emulator is broken.I cannot pull it down. I have no idea what happened.
To customize it, first pull down the slider bar from the top of the screen. Next, tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Now click on Status bar. You're in.
I fixed it as follows: Go to: Tools > Android > AVD Manager. Press the "edit" (pencil) icon next to your AVD. Change "Graphics" to "Software".
If it's a white screen, it means it is loading. Before it happened to me, and I clicked on the white screen for some times, then it successfully loaded my project. It may be that your Project includes something that the Emulator is incompatible with (an extension for example).
For what it's worth, as per this SO, it seems like it might be a bug in android. No response from Google as of the writing of this comment.
