At work I use Visual Studio 2008 and at home I use Xcode 3.2 (and I love both of them). But a major annoyance is the difference in keyboard shortcuts - I will be happily coding and then attempt to perform an autocomplete (Ctrl+Space in Visual Studio, Esc in Xcode) and a GeneralTypingFault
will throw a SwearAndHitYourDeskInAnger
exception.
Is there an easy way (some kind of plugin or script) to map Visual Studio shortcuts in Xcode or vice-versa without having to manually enter a huge (or somewhat huge) set of shortcuts?
On the menu bar, choose Tools > Options. Expand Environment, and then choose Keyboard. Optional: Filter the list of commands by entering all or part of the name of the command, without spaces, in the Show commands containing box. In the list, choose the command to which you want to assign a keyboard shortcut.
To directly jump to a definition, you can combine ^ ctrl + ⌘ command + click .
For Xcode only , you can't change Command + Click to Control + Click. If you want to change your MAC Shortcut Key then you can Change it from Goto System Preference -> Keyboard -> Modify Keys then update your shortcut key according to your preference.
On Windows: go to File -> Preferences -> Keyboard shortcuts, or press Ctrl+K, then Ctrl+S, or edit %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Code\User\keybindings.
There is a 'Key Bindings' Menu in Xcode preferences with the option to import Sets of binds. perhaps there is a VS set you can download. Failing that you could (admittedly laboriously) set them up yourself.
