I am writing an app that plays some simple voices and sounds using AVAudioPlayer
. However, in order to really make the app "killer", it would need to access the users' own voice memos so that they can play back their own memos using my app (my app actually does something cool with the memos, so there is actually a point to using it! :p).
I haven't been able to find any documentation on this, nor any guides (here or out in the cloud).
Is this even possible or do I have to add a little guide asking the user to record a sound, import to iTunes, sync with device, then access it via the music library? Or perhaps another solution of recording in-app?
On your iOS or iPadOS device: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, then turn on Voice Memos.
Swipe down from the middle of the list of recordings to reveal the search field. Tap the search field, enter part or all of the recording name, then tap Search.
If Voice Memos is turned on in iCloud settings or iCloud preferences, your recording is saved in iCloud and appears automatically on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac where you're signed in with the same Apple ID. See Keep recordings up to date in Voice Memos on iPhone.
To keep a single audio message, tap "Keep" underneath an audio message to prevent it from being automatically removed. If your device is using a version previous to iOS12, you also have the option to save audio messages to the Voice Memos app. To do this, tap and hold an audio message, then choose "Save".
Right, so under the current versions of iOS, this isn't possible at all. As mentioned, the best thing is to simply us AVAudioRecorder to record directly into the app itself.
