The problem was caused by you accidentally tapping the Insert key in the first place. The Insert key is mostly used to switch between the two main modes of entering text on a computer, Overtype Mode and Insert Mode. Want some more help with your keyboard?
You can turn off cursor blinking by going to Settings, Editor, General, Appearance and untick Caret blinking .
In the PC Settings Menu select Ease of Access. In the Ease of Access Menu select Other Options. At the bottom of the page in the Visual Options section see the Cursor Thickness Slider and slide it all the way to the left.
Once in Registry window -- look for editor. caret. width entry. Set the new value (for me the default was 2 ) -- make sure that field went bold (move to another entry) to ensure that new value was accepted.
If you have a touchscreen try touching it somewhere. It helped me to solve the issue.
