Click and hold with the Eyedropper tool anywhere in your Illustrator document, then drag to the color you want to sample outside of Illustrator, and release. This adds the color to your color panel, to the fill or stroke, depending on whichever is active.
A zoomed eyedropper & color chooser tool that allows you to select color values from webpages and more. If you feel the need to alert the developer about a bug use the feedback forum instead of writing a review. ColorPick needs permission on all websites so that it is at the ready when you need it.
You can access the color picker chrome tool using a keyboard shortcut or GUI (Graphical User Interface). Press Ctrl + Shift + I when using the keyboard to get the DevTools and then head to the color picker. If you are using a mac, you need to press, Command + Option + I.
To open the Eye Dropper simply:

Its main functionality is to inspect pixel color values by clicking them though with its new features you can also see your page's existing colors palette or material design palette by clicking on the two arrows icon at the bottom. It can get quite handy when designing your page.
It is just called the eyedropper tool. There is no shortcut key for it that I'm aware of. The only way you can use it now is by clicking on the color picker box in styles sidebar and then clicking on the page as you have already been doing.
Currently, the eyedropper tool is not working in my version of Chrome (as described above), though it worked for me in the past. I hear it is being updated in the latest version of Chrome.
However, I'm able to grab colors easily in Firefox.
In case you cannot get the eyedropper tool to work in Chrome, this is a good work around.
I also find it easier to access :-)
