I have a slack application that responds with formatted data in mrkdwn but it would be nice to have the information presented in table form like so
Am trying to implement this but cant quite find how to format this message. The only close solution i have is taking a screen grab of the table and sending it instead but that affects the applications response time. Any help would be appreciated thanks
The official answer is that Slack messages do not support tables. They suggest to generate a table and post it as an image. They also said that they will add it to their backlog.
To do so, open Slack's preferences menu by clicking the menu at the top-left corner of the Slack window and selecting “Preferences.” Click “Advanced” in the left pane and enable “Format messages with markup” under Input Options. The change will take effect immediately.
When you're writing a message in Slack, press the Aa button to reveal a formatting panel in both Slack's desktop and mobile apps. Highlight any text you've written then click options like bold, italics, strikethrough or code format to give messages the right emphasis or to make key excerpts stand out.
