When I set autoplay to true for a YouTube video (IFrame API) on my site, it doesn't work. All the documentation says apple disables autoplay on ios for bandwidth reasons.
However, I see that videos play automatically (without clicking on the video element) on youtube.com on iPad. How did YouTube make it work? It would be hard to imagine Apple does something special just for YouTube.
1. On the Home tab of the YouTube app, tap your profile picture, then tap Settings. 2. Tap Autoplay, then tap the autoplay switch to the off position to turn off the feature.
AutoPlay may not work on YouTube due to corrupt cache/data of the browser or corrupt installation of the YouTube mobile application. Moreover, an outdated browser or misconfiguration of your browser like DRM settings, etc. may also cause the error under discussion.
The Autoplay feature on YouTube enables a “lean back” experience and keeps videos playing without you having to select a new video when the video you're watching finishes. You can choose to turn off the Autoplay feature at any time using the toggle option available on the watch page.
It seems that Youtube's team uses the interaction of the user when taps/clicks a video button to authorize the reproduction.
Remember that youtube.com is a SPA (Single Page Application) so there is no page reload or redirection.
So, youtube.com doesn't have autoplay enabled.
