I want to read, write and create Spreadsheets in the Open Document Format with Java. And I want the resulting Java-program running on a computer without OpenOffice.org or other ODS-capable programs installed. Exists a library to access this format?
You can open and save files in the OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods) file format that is used by some spreadsheet applications, such as OpenOffice.org Calc and Google Docs. Click File > Open > Computer > Browse.
The ODS files are the files that are built in excel. ODS or the Open Document Spreadsheet are the files that are constructed with excel so as to have the word processing with spreadsheets be done in a better way.
The OpenDocument Format (ODF) is an XML-based file format for representing electronic documents such as spreadsheets, charts, presentations and word processing documents. The standard was developed by the OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), and it is a free and open format.
Google Drive is another way you can convert an ODS file online. Upload the file there and then right-click it and choose to open it with Google Sheets. Once you have, use the File >Download as menu in Google Sheets to save it as an XLSX, PDF, HTML, CSV or TSV file.
