I tried searching the design guidelines, but I couldn't find anything related to this. I am trying to figure out the optimal size for Action bar icons in the new L release. Here is an example of what I am trying to achieve:
I tried the previous 48dp size, but it looks a lot bigger than the ones in that picture.

An Action bar is traditionally a part of an Activity opaque window decor controlled by the framework but a Toolbar may be placed at any level of nesting within a view hierarchy. The toolbar provides more feature than ActionBar . A Toolbar may contain a combination of elements from start to end.
The ActionBar, now known as the App Bar, is a consistent navigation element that is standard throughout modern Android applications. The ActionBar can consist of: An application icon. An "upward" navigation to logical parent.
This example demonstrate about how to create a custom action bar in Android. Step 1 − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project. Step 2 − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main. xml.
From Material Design Keylines Touch Target Size, size for icons is 24dp
