Is it possible to develop NodeJS applications with VS2010. I'm talking plain ol' Javascript, not Azure or any fancy stuff like that. I just want to use VS2010 as the Javascript editor as I'm from .NET background and I'm very comfortable with it.
If I can, then please tell me how to configure VS2010 to be able to code NodeJS applications.
Node. js Tools for Visual Studio is a free and open source Visual Studio extension supported by Microsoft and the community.
You'll need visual studio in order to get the C++ compilers. You can pull down Visual Studio 2010 Express here, which is a much smaller download (694MB). For python, you'll need 2.6 or 2.7 as described on the node.
Visual Studio Code is one of the best Node. js IDE developed by Microsoft. It is a lightweight yet powerful code editor that is available for free to download and use. My primary reason to choose VS code is the great support for debugging JavaScript and Node.
