How is the above jpg image animated? As far as I know jpg
format does not support animation.
No, neither JPEG nor PNG files supports animated images. GIFs allow for basic animation, making them a popular choice for memes on social media platforms. Animated GIF files can hold multiple images or frames at the same time, which provides a video-like effect. But they tend to be short with low resolution.
You can save the images you open or edit with Windows Paint as JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF or PNG image files. To see your options, click the “File” tab and then hold your pointer over the "Save As" button. To convert your JPG into a GIF file, select the "GIF Picture" button.
An Animated JPEG file is a stream of concatenated individual JPEG files, then representing a frame within the animation.
No, the JPEG file format has no inherent support for animation.
The image you linked is actually an animated GIF disguised with a jpg
file extension. (The browser apparently ignores even the MIME type and looks at the file header bytes in such cases.)
