Is it possible to read an HID iClass cards using the methods described in the Advanced NFC API Guide?
The HID Mobile Access App provides a virtual contactless smart card credential that supports Apple's iOS® & Google's Android™ operating systems.
It's not technically possible for most scenarios: older proximity cards (125kHz) would require specialized hardware in smartphone (not just NFC);
HID cards, also called prox cards, proximity cards & access control cards, are cards that use RFID embedded technology.
The HID Prox system operates at a carrier frequency of 125 kHz. NFC operates at 13.56 MHz. Consequently, it's impossible to read HID Prox cards with an NFC reader.
iCLASS technology ensures high security with mutual authentication, encrypted data transfer, and 64-bit diversified keys for read/write capabilities. Any existing HID format can be factory or field programmed into the secure HID access control application area.
You should be able to communicate to the card if it supports NFC-V (ISO-15693) technology.
Update: iClass cards use a different protocol from ISO-15693. So, I believe android device does not support iClass, as of this post.
