What is the difference between apk size and download size, when I analyze apk in android studio, it always shows me apks size greater than download size, what is the difference.
According to the APK Analyzer documentation... Raw File Size represents the unzipped size of the entity on disk while Download Size represents the estimated compressed size of the entity as it would be delivered by Google Play.
Google Play requires that the compressed APK that users download be no more than 100MB. For most apps, this is plenty of space for all the app's code and assets.
We found that smaller APK sizes correlate with higher install conversion rates, with an even larger impact on conversion rates for users in emerging markets. As many developers are shifting their focus towards expansion into new markets, particularly emerging markets, it is important to be cognizant of your app's size.
One of the simple ways to make your APK smaller is to reduce the number and size of the resources it contains. In particular, you can remove resources that your app no longer uses, and you can use scalable Drawable objects in place of image files.
According to the APK Analyzer documentation...
Raw File Size represents the unzipped size of the entity on disk while Download Size represents the estimated compressed size of the entity as it would be delivered by Google Play. The % of Total Download Size indicates the percentage of the APK's total download size the entity represents.
