API call works in browser but not curl/wget

Question

I'm wanting to use the Mapquest geocoding API. Opening this URL in a browser returns XML containing results:

What's the difference?

It's so obvious now. The & in the URL is interpreted by Bash, so the URL needs to be wrapped in quotes.
