Is there some code or a library that lets me control the 7-Zip unpacking functionality from C# code?

To begin a session, open a terminal window. Invoke the version of 7Zip you are using by entering "7z" for P7Zip (7z.exe), or "7za" for 7Zip for Windows (7za.exe) to start either the P7-Zip or 7za application prior to entering commands.
7-Zip is in fact a powerful tool, but if all you'll ever use it for is to unzip the zipped folders your boyfriend sends you then you simply don't need it. In my opinion it's never a good idea to install a program you don't really need.
There is a project on CodePlex, SevenZipSharp.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.
