I was wondering if there is a way to submit/write html form data to a txt file with the use of scripts but with out using a webserver, webhost, wamp, xamp etc.
I have been trying with php scripts but they just open the php document on submitting.
Any help is appreciated :D
The Submit Button The <input type="submit"> defines a button for submitting the form data to a form-handler. The form-handler is typically a file on the server with a script for processing input data. The form-handler is specified in the form's action attribute.
The method attribute specifies how to send form-data (the form-data is sent to the page specified in the action attribute). The form-data can be sent as URL variables (with method="get" ) or as HTTP post transaction (with method="post" ). Notes on GET: Appends form-data into the URL in name/value pairs.
A webform, web form or HTML form on a web page allows a user to enter data that is sent to a server for processing. Forms can resemble paper or database forms because web users fill out the forms using checkboxes, radio buttons, or text fields.
Something like this?
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style>
form * {
display: block;
margin: 10px;
}
</style>
<script language="Javascript" >
function download(filename, text) {
var pom = document.createElement('a');
pom.setAttribute('href', 'data:text/plain;charset=utf-8,' +
encodeURIComponent(text));
pom.setAttribute('download', filename);
pom.style.display = 'none';
document.body.appendChild(pom);
pom.click();
document.body.removeChild(pom);
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<form onsubmit="download(this['name'].value, this['text'].value)">
<input type="text" name="name" value="test.txt">
<textarea rows=3 cols=50 name="text">Please type in this box. When you
click the Download button, the contents of this box will be downloaded to
your machine at the location you specify. Pretty nifty. </textarea>
<input type="submit" value="Download">
</form>
</body>
</html>
