When I try to share a "discussion" (which is merely a link from our website) at linkedin through the "Attach a link", it used to pull a nice image earlier, but it ceased to do so now.
Is there a meta property="og: we should specifically use for linkedin shares to have an image shown?
Shared rich media - such as photos, articles, documents and videos - can't be replaced, and new URLs won't be able to display a new preview image. To edit shared rich media, you must delete your post and create a new one. Currently, LinkedIn's share box remembers the content of the last link you shared for three days.
When posting image updates to your company page, make sure to use PNG or JPG images. Use an aspect ratio of 1.91:1. The recommended LinkedIn post size is 1200 x 628 pixels. This LinkedIn image sizing also applies to LinkedIn Showcase pages.
Some images are used as links or buttons. When the main function of an image is not to communicate visual information, alt text should describe the destination of the link or function of the button instead of the visual image.
The LinkedIn share functionality supports a small subset of open graph tags as documented here: https://developer.linkedin.com/documents/setting-display-tags-shares
Note that at least until recently (and possibly still) re-scraping of existing shared pages is broken, so if you've already shared a page and it got the wrong image you're stuck unless you share it with a different URL.
