Is there any difference between the terms(or subjects) Computer Architecture and Computer Organization? If yes, what is it? Please Explain me in detail. These two seem to be quite similar fields. Tell them apart by quoting good sources.
Computer Architecture comprises logical functions such as instruction sets, registers, data types, and addressing modes. Computer Organization consists of physical units like circuit designs, peripherals, and adders.
Computer Organization and Architecture is the study of internal working, structuring, and implementation of a computer system. Architecture in the computer system, same as anywhere else, refers to the externally visual attributes of the system.
Computer architecture deals with the design of computers, data storage devices, and networking components that store and run programs, transmit data, and drive interactions between computers, across networks, and with users.
Computer architecture refers to the attributes visible to the programmer and which affect the logical execution of a program. Computer organisation refers to the hardware units that realise the architecture: the instruction set, the number of bits used to represent data types, addressing memory, etc.
According to the Wikipedia entry Microarchitecture:
In computer engineering, microarchitecture (sometimes abbreviated to µarch or uarch), also called computer organization, is the way a given instruction set architecture (ISA) is implemented on a processor. A given ISA may be implemented with different microarchitectures. Implementations might vary due to different goals of a given design or due to shifts in technology. Computer architecture is the combination of microarchitecture and instruction set design.
