With the release of iOS 11.3 and it's inclusion of service workers, I have been trying to find information about whether or not web push is also available now, particularly for the usage in PWA's.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this or know where I can find the information.
I Currently use Onesignal for my push notification package and it works very very well for browser and Android. So here is hoping that if it is supported now, they get it up and running fast.
Apple announced support for web push notifications for Safari on iOS starting in 2023. At the company's annual developer event WWDC in June 2022, Apple announced that this feature was coming to iOS.
Go to Settings and tap Notifications. Select an app under Notification Style. Under Alerts, choose the alert style that you want. If you turn on Allow Notifications, choose when you want the notifications delivered—immediately or in the scheduled notification summary.
Web push notifications have been existing on almost all operating systems (Windows, Linux even macOS on desktops and Android on mobiles) and almost all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, Safari, Opera, etc.). The only major operating system which didn't enable web push notifications was iOS.
Bad news : Apple has included services worker but not Push API so you can't receive push notification.
