I just made the jump from VS2010 to VS2013 and have encountered an odd bug/feature with no apparent workaround.
In VS1010 I'm accustomed to clicking "Go to Definition" on the context menu above a highlighted class so as to open the relevant .cs file in a new tab.
VS2013 has this same feature but for some incomprehensible reason it docks the new tab to the right, and to make matters worse, subsequent calls to "Go to Definition" to view additional classes result in the tab of the previously sought out class being closed.
I discovered that these awkwardly placed tabs can be kept open and aligned properly, just like a user would expect, by manually clicking the tiny "keep open" button. But having to do this each and every time I navigate to a class via "Go to Definition" is a real workflow hinderance.
Is there any way to turn off this strange behavior?

First, click and hold the title bar with the mouse, and then drag the window to where you want to dock it. Visual Studio displays some docking icons. Four icons are at the edge of the IDE, one each at the left, top, right, and bottom. These icons are used for docking the window at the given edge of the IDE.
Just drag and drop onto the mechanic and dock the solution explorer window to the left side of the window. You must drop the panel onto the fastener, in the position you wish it to be docked (in the case, the rectangle on the left of the fastener, highlighted with a red circle).
Ctrl + Shift + F – Find in Solution Sometimes you want to search across your entire solution. You can double-click each item in the “Find Results” window to navigate to that instance of the search term you searched for.
In Visual Studio 2022 and later, you can set Visual Studio to always keep results. Go to Tools > Options > General > Find and Replace, and select the checkbox for Keep search results by default.
In the options, in Environment > Tabs and Windows, uncheck Allow new files to be opened in the preview tab.
