Any idea?
Visual Studio 2010 - "Find All" button disabled when trying to do "Find In Files
The new experience is available by searching for “Find in Files” or “Replace in Files” in Visual Studio search (Ctrl+Q by default). You can also get to these commands with Ctrl+Shift+F and Ctrl+Shift+H respectively.
Note that this can also be as a result of disabling database for C++/C#. In Tools - Options, type "IntelliSense" into the search box, and click on C/C++ - Advanced. In the Browsing/Navigation section, change Disable Database to False, if it is not so already. After re-enabling, close and reopen to force rebuild.
Ctrl + Shift + F – Find in Solution Sometimes you want to search across your entire solution.
In Visual Studio 2022 and later, you can set Visual Studio to always keep results. Go to Tools > Options > General > Find and Replace, and select the checkbox for Keep search results by default.
As it says in the comment posted by the author of the question, this is a known issue (at least known to Microsoft) of VS2010. Since the bug report page is a lot more confusing than Stack Overflow, I'll quote the work around suggested by the Microsoft dev that closed the issue, which doesn't involve opening any file (emphasis mine).
If you type text into the "Find What" text box and select "Entire Solution" from the "Look In" dropdown menu (even though it is already selected) the Find All button becomes enabled.
I should also add that the issue was closed as "Won't Fix".
