I am a semi-retired software engineering consultant of some 35 years experience in procedural languages including 'C' but many of which no-one uses anymore! I am brand new to object-oriented languages - having studiously avoided them most of my professional life. I have 2 degrees, a Batchelor's Degree in Applied Physics and a post-grad in Information Systems Engineering.

I have fallen in love with Apple/Mac engineering and am keen to learn iOS programming so that I can 'tinker' with some apps. I am particularly excited about the forthcoming iPhone 5.

I am married with a little boy of 12 who has Down's syndrome and we live in a quiet leafy backwater on the outskirts of Dorking in Surrey.
