I Started coding in pure machine code (by numbers) in the early 80s. Wrote some (published) games for the Sharp MZ80K and VIc20. To support a family I then programmed for a business and then my own company. Retired 1997 (Quite early). after About 12 years took up programming again for a family project that keeps growing.
Currently using VB NET (Community) and SQL server (Express).
I find the snobbery of C(i.e. C is real programming VB is not) to be quite funny really and has been around for a long time. A long time ago I met some of this with the answer "well I add some assembler if I need real speed". I like VB because it is easy to read, maintain and I am familiar with it.
Funny thing about retirement is that you go from being a professional to an amateur in an instant!
