Programming is the most fun a person can have on their own. This is a fact well known to programmers, though it seems the rest of the world is yet to catch on. I've been programming since I was 7 years old, and still love it enough to do it for fun in my spare time as well as spending my days doing it to earn a living.
My preferred tech stack for the last 7 years or so has been Javascript, React (& React-Native), Node.js, and whichever storage technology makes most sense for my current project, although I particularly like MongoDB and ElasticSearch.
In 2013 I wrote an Android book (Asynchronous Android) which was an incredible learning experience but also very stressful on top of a full-time day job!
I spent the first 15 years or so of my career building publishing systems with Java/Lucene/MySQL back-ends and Javascript-heavy front-ends.
My latest personal project "Powster" is React-Native/WebGL app for transforming boring old photo's into cartoon/comic-book masterpieces. Check it out for Android here (iOS release pending review).
