I am a French Canadian electrical engineer that uses programming a lot to help me automate my work. I do some embedded system programming in C, and know many assembler languages. For embedded development, I'm using a lot the Propeller chip from Parallax, a multicore microcontroller that is really easy to work with. I use Linux a lot and mostly use Python for desktop programming, I fell in love with the language. I also like to work with Django for developing web tools.
